What’s going on with Windows Laptops?
Windows ARM laptops are finally having a moment and I’m loving it.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.🎉🎉😊😊😊
ARM laptops are a complete flop. It’s a thing for geeks but no corporation are buying into these. MS tried 10 years ago to get Windows on ARM done (W8 RT) and it was a flop. If Intel bumps up battery life with Lunar Lake, Qualcomm powered laptops with soon end up in museums or get used as paperweights. Only 80% of the apps are working on top so it’s really a flop so far. Less than 1% of total sales…and they’re not even cheap !!!
I’m guessing this is the channel for anyone who doesn’t know anything about computers 🤦♂
I thought my Mac to a reboot
And gameloop or bluestacs does that work?
I’m watching this with my M1 MacBook Air, and it pretty much looks like a replica of it, except I bought this for $900 in 2022. My question would be, how does it perform relative to MacBooks? I recognize this may be a tough assessment since there are not a lot of native apps for Windows ARM yet, but it’s a question on my mind. So far as a photographer using Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro I’ve been pretty much stuck with Apple, but I wonder if there will ever be a day when I will have an option outside of Apple…any thoughts? (note: I’m using an M1 Mac Mini for all my editing right now, and have very few complaints)
the spelling of compatibility is wrong. it’s not "compatability"
Thank you for such a detalied review. In 8.23 you mentioned about "spinning the fan". Isn’t this laptop fanless? I did not see any ventilation grille at all.
Windows copies MacBook and things go well? who could’ve guessed?
ARM is the future.
Then he grabbed the laptop in the beginning of the video I first thought it was an Apple MacBook. What a shameless ripoff of Apples design.
My MacBook Air 15 M3 is a joke. Bumped the ram but for real design work it is a pos. No one really tests notebooks we multiple apps open, browsers gobbling up ram etc
• I sure do want a Google Willow Quantum Chip in my laptop.
This development started after renegade project…. Salute to developer 😀.
If I would like to do data science with it does it work? Does it run powerBI tableau and other modeling programs properly ??
intro music is crazy!
Arc browser is the sketchiest piece of software Ive ever seen………
I wonder if wasm would be able to fill in the niche that java filled by creating as a platform agnostic runtime for these applications to run on.
ARC browser 😂
I’m surprised nobody talks about WiFi performance. The surface laptop WiFi 6 performance is fantastic. I do happen to have the same laptop in this review and also a new fully loaded M4 Mac mini. The surface laptop blew the mini out of the water with almost twice as fast wifi6 connectivity. Same network and location and I got close to 1.5 gbps speeds compared to only 700 on the Mac. Check it out for yourself if you have a fast WiFi6 connection.
I currently main the surface pro x as my main school computer and it holds up shockingly well
Apple owns the hardware which made the ecosystem transition to ARM startling fast. Now Intel macs are lagging in support. Much more heterogenous for Windows. I have much less confidence in the software world catching up because there isn’t the same incentive.
What’s the point of windows on ARM? Many software won’t work. TIA Portal for example, or Ardupilot
Bro…all that technology and the “clear” text still looks blurry AF 😂
is it good with motion graphics ?
Does it support Microsoft Office?
Google Drive works for me.
I got the M3 MBP, but next year, I’ll invest on a Qualcomm V2 laptop. There’s still a need for Windows and hopefully the particular app I need will port over.
Which surface is this?
That’s just a temu copy of macbooks
Nice review!
The problem is you cant game on it 🙁
$1300 is my price point.
3:41 yes, transition through m1 was apptly called challenging.
This ARM Laptop 7 is just awesome. Its so fast, no cooling fan. The screen, the sound and I can replace the 500GB for a 1TB by myself very easy. I got it on black friday.
The fit and finish for the new ARM Surface Laptop certainly rises to MacBook levels. But the screen leaves something to be desired. Like I found the colors and overall visual experience to be washed out and sub-par. Now, Microsoft is asking about the same price for the ARM Surface Laptop as Apple asks for the MacBook Air. But the MacBook Air’s screen is waaaaay better and the overall app compatibility is definitely better. It’s not there yet and personally, I’m disappointed. But I guess it’s a nice start.
That being said, if Linux apps had better support for ARM, I might entertain buying one of these things. Only until you can safely remove Winsuck and load up a proper operating system made for real men (i.e. Linux) does a laptop truly become worth eyeing imho.
Love that Windows is now "unarmed"
Compatability
Windows need to take a brake.
Can someone explain? How the driver work on arm laptop? Do I have to emulate the driver such as printer, scanner, etc? Or do I install arm specific driver?
Google Drive on Desktop is working in Surface Pro 11, so I believe Google did some updates and it should work in Surface latop as well
Are you still in macOS (pls tell me you are with macOS
I have a dell laptop running Windows 11 home with a Snapdragon generation 2 processor and 8 gigs of RAM and have absolutely no issues it’s done everything I needed to do in fact it’s nicer than my expensive Lenovo that calls over $1,500 because this one doesn’t put out hardly any heat and I can connect my Galaxy phone to it and use deck so I have access to Android everything else I need. The battery life on arm is great I get a week’s worth of use or approximately 16 to 17 hours before I have to recharge it versus my other laptop which is a Lenovo 9i that only lasts me 6 to 8 hours and puts out heat and uses fans. I’ve had no issues with compatibility because I make sure I read when I’m purchasing when it comes to applications to make sure they work with an armed processor which is a step that many people don’t do and complain later on when it’s not compatible.
why not MediaTek kompaio?
I was pretty shocked to see that most Adobe programs don’t run on this computer. And disappointed that Microsoft isn’t more transparent about app compatibility issues. This isn’t a trade off I was willing to make and wish I knew before buying the Surface Laptop.
This is not the right laptop to compare with Macs. A Core I9 ZenBook with NPU can be bought with 1TB and 32 GB Ram can be bought for £945 UK/ $1,186.21with oled. You would pay at least twice this amount for a Mac. I have one – it’s really solid and the battery ios fantastic too
I still use Intel Pentium Quatro from a decade ago… and it works 😂
I seriously need to upgrade.
Damm, and still slower than your car
incompatible, not uncompatible 🙂
Don’t drive too fast, speed kills
